They were amazed and used magnifying glasses to study them closely. After the children went looking around the garden to see what mini beasts they could find and they found lots.

Our beanstalks are still growing. We have been taking good care of them, watering them every day and some of us are even talking to them!

As the children showed particular interest in this the practitioner’s extended this activity by showing them how to change nappies and then let them have a go. The children were so focused and really had to think and plan about how to put the nappy on the dolly successfully!

They have been using the story of ‘The Hungry Caterpillar’ to learning about the butterfly lifecycle, learning the days of the week and have experienced the different tastes of the food the caterpillar munches through in the story.

Learning outdoors creates lasting memories, helps build a greater awareness of the environment, provides more opportunities to think independently, and gets children feeling challenged and excited by learning.

Our introduction of Story Sacks has been a great success. This week we were able to award our first High Five Certificate at Lyneham for borrowing 5 story sacks at home.

are continuing our interest in growth and change at Sunny Days, Lyneham, looking at things that grow including our fabulous grass heads and growing cress and mung beans.

The High Five reading challenge has started at Lyneham and we already have lots of children sharing our story sacks at home. There is still plenty of time to join the challenge.

They looked like they were trying to climb out. The children counted them and we have at least 12 froglets.
