Celebrating St Nicholas' Day at Lyneham

Celebrating St Nicholas' Day at Lyneham

In The Netherlands and Germany, December 5th, is when Sinterklaas (St. Nicholas) (der Nikolaus) brings children sweets and small presents! St. Nicholas’ day is on the 6th December and is celebrated in Europe. At Lyneham we have been celebrating St Nicholas’ Day and finding out about how on the night of the 5th the children leave their shoes out and if they have been good Sinterklaas will leave them treats and if they haven’t they will receive twigs and coal! The children at Lyneham were very lucky and well behaved, we left our shoes out by the front door and pretended to go to sleep. When we woke we found our shoes had been filled with lovely treats!
