Sunny Days Children's Nursery Bad Weather Policy

Sunny Days Children's Nursery Bad Weather Policy

Sunny Days will endeavor to remain open where possible during bad weather conditions.

However the opening of the nursery will depend on a number of different aspects. Firstly, it will depend on how many of our staff are able to travel to work safely. Many of staff live in outlying areas and may be unable to get to work. We will only open if we can guarantee that the correct staff/child ratios can still be maintained. Secondly we must ensure that the building is at a suitable temperature for the children and lastly if the buildings are still accessible.

We will review the situation overnight and a decision will be made each day by the manager or deputy as to whether the setting opens. We will attempt to inform parents by telephone, Facebook and our website before the start of their session of our plans for that day and will keep updating throughout the day.

If we cannot open at 7.30am we will endeavour to open later in the morning. If the weather deteriorates throughout the day we may have to close early in order to ensure that all children and staff are able to get home safely in such poor conditions. If this is the case we will contact parents via telephone as soon as possible to give you time to arrange for early collection of your children. – Please ensure we have the correct contact details for you.

Please also take great care when using the car park. We will endeavour to keep the car park gritted but if in doubt please park on the main road and walk down. If we assess the car park to be unsafe we will shut it and keep the gates closed to cars.

We are obviously conscious of the safety of the children, parents and staff, and everyone’s well-being in extreme weather conditions.
