What we've been doing this summer

We hope our families are having a great summer in the gorgeous weather.

The summer so far has been wonderfully busy, with each nursery participating in a variety of engaging activities, day trips and play, including Lyneham who opened in summer for the first time.

All three settings kicked off the summer by holding a Teddy Bear graduation for the children leaving us in September to go to Primary School. Although we’re sad to see them go, we’re excited to send them off on their next learning journey.

So, what have we been up to all summer?

Lyneham

As our first summer open, we spent it following the children’s interests and taking part in a lot of exciting and creative activities, including Space week. During this week, the children made aliens, space ships and stars out of dough and clay, with rockets made from lego and junk materials.

We spent a lot of time outside enjoying the sunshine taking part in a series of different challenges, visiting our local park and harvesting our potatoes and peas in our veg patch. Teaming up with the Fynamore holiday club, we’re ending the holidays with a trip to Cotswold Wildlife Park.

Like Lyneham, we also spent a lot of our time outside. We took time to enjoy the nature we have in our garden and did lots of messy and water play to keep cool.

Following the children’s interest in the story, We’re going on a Bear Hunt, we had a variety of themed activities, including painting, exploring sensory bags and a story walk. The children’s favourite activity was the bear hunt and picnic.

Our pre-school enjoyed playing football outside, chalking around their friends and building safe homes for bugs. The children also got creative when making musical instruments using rice and pasta.

The holiday club spent a lot of time out of the nursery, including trips to the Hope Nature Centre to feed and pet the animals, Chippenham John Coles Park to perfect their handicap on crazy gold, the Cinema to watch Dora the Explorer and we’ll be attending Cotswold Wildlife Park with Lyneham.

As the summer comes to an end, we start to think about the new term. We’re looking forward to welcoming the new children joining us in September and our new staff members. For our friends starting school, we will continue to support both children and parents to ensure a smooth transition and wish you all the luck.

Now… For another great year ahead!
