Our nurseries in Calne and Lyneham

We have three different premises in Wiltshire, with two located in Calne and one Lyneham. In each of our nurseries, our aim is the same: to provide a caring, safe, and nurturing environment in which each child can grow as an individual.

We want to give every child as many new, interesting, and stimulating experiences as we can, developing their knowledge, imagination, and personality. We’re here to help them develop into confident individuals, ready for the next chapter.

Our nurseries in Calne and Lyneham provide outstanding wrap-around childcare, including term-time breakfast and after-school clubs in addition to holiday clubs for children aged 5-11.

Settling in

At Sunny Days we place great importance on every child’s unique character.

Your little one has formed a strong attachment to you, so settling in and forming a new strong bond with us will take plenty of time and support. Each child needs to learn from experience that they’re safe and sound, surrounded by staff that will care for them. This is why a settling in period is so important.

Settling in calls for sensitively balancing a gradual introduction to the other children, activities, our daily programme, and our staff with the gradual withdrawal of your presence.

Key person

At first, the nursery may be an overwhelming experience, particularly for children under 3, as well as those who have not previously experienced a playgroup, childminder, or some other form of care outside the home. Every child is different: some take to the change very easily; others need more support and time to adjust.

We ease this transition by giving your child a key person to help them settle in, building their sense of security and confidence. The key person is there to form a strong bond with you and your child, one that will endure long after the settling in period has drawn to a close.

Initially, your little one will need your support and presence to cope with the new environment. Your first few visits together will centre on constructive activities, such as talking with your child’s key person and other children and possibly drawing your child into interesting activities.

Wellbeing comes first

Your child's well-being is central to everything we do at Sunny Days, so their settling in period will be tailored to their individual needs.

We take a flexible approach to settling in periods, usually planning for visits spanning 2-4 weeks. During this time, we’ll get to know you and your child, helping them acclimatise to time spent apart from you, having fun in the nursery.

These early days form the foundation for a trusting, strong relationship between the whole family and the key person. We’re dedicated to working closely alongside you, learning all we can about your treasured little one.

Your key person will be responsible for the day-to-day care of your child, overseeing and assessing their learning journey. If you have any worries, concerns or questions, our helpful, welcoming team is always here to help.
